The above cut shows the two styles of crushers used in our K-7,
C-8 and H-12 Mills; The toothed feed crusher, marked No.2, is used for grinding ear corn and small grains, while the shuck crusher, marked
No. 5 1/2, is used for grinding ear corn with the husk and is used on the
above mills only. While the .shuck crusher will also crush and grind ear
corn (without husk) and all kinds of small grain, it is not so well adapted for this class of work as crusher No.2, and at the same time it
requires more power when operating mill with shuck crusher attachment, consequently when ear corn (without husk) is to be ground we recommend using the regular toothed crusher marked No.2. Ear corn with husk on, ground on either of our K-7, C-8 or H-12 Mills, makes excellent feed and is being very generally adopted by up-to-date stock raisers and dairymen. Shuck feed prevents scouring and should be used in cases where straight corn meal or other strong grain meal is fed, thus taking the place of roughage. We found there was a demand for a machine to prepare feed in this way and, after experimenting several years, have now perfected a crusher which will do the work properly. We now offer it for sale to anyone desiring to make first-class feed by grinding ear corn with husk on at one operation. When ordering a mill state whether you wish same rigged up with regular crusher No, 2 or shuck crusher No. 5 1/2, as these crushers are interchangeable. When not otherwise specified, mills are shipped with the regular crusher marked No. 2, which will not grind shuck corn. If you wish to grind ear corn with and without the husk on, it is necessary that you order both crushers; and as the mill price includes one crusher, we will furnish the extra crusher at the following prices: K-7, $1.50; C-8, $2.00; H-12, $3.00; or you may order the mill with regular crusher and later on send for the shuck crusher, or vice versa. The prices shown on our price list and order blank are for a mill rigged up with either a shuck or regular crusher, but not both. The regular crusher is sold (when ordered extra) at same price as quoted on shuck crusher, viz.: K-7, $1.50; C-8, $2.00; and H-12, $3.00. We have sold quite a number of machines rigged up for shuck grinding, and can fully recommend and guarantee same. They are sent subject to ten days' trial and, if not entirely satisfactory, may be returned. When mills are rigged up with shuck crusher about one-fifth more power is required to get same capacity as when grinding earn corn without shuck. |
