Herewith we enumerate a few of the good points to be found on
these Mills:
They will grind damp or soft ear corn or small grain just as well as dry. The hopper can be kept filled with ear corn or small grain without choking down the mill or stalling the power, if not speeded too high, and it is so arranged that the corn ears will not bridge, as is so often the case with other feed mills. The crusher is toothed worm shape, which in addition to crushing the cob also acts as a force feed, pushing the product into the plates. This force feed device is necessary, especially when grinding small grain alone. The crusher is interchangeable and, being leaded, can be put on the shaft in a few minutes, should it require to be renewed. Since there are no gears on these mills, they do not get out of order frequently, as do so many other machines. The mills are low speed which means the minimum wear and tear on the mill; consequently. they last longer than high-speeded machines and utilize all the power possible for grinding instead of speeding. The temper or regulating screw, with which the plates can be adjusted to grind to any degree of fineness. The bridge tree, which is provided with a spring, to allow discs to separate if nails or other foreign matter should enter the mill by accident. Two regulating dams, to control the amount of product passing into the plates. Ball Box Bearing, causing the mill to run cool and reducing the power required to a minimum. . Jam Nut Lever, to secure regulating screw after it is properly set. The discs used are our famous double reduction discs, made by us for the past forty-six years and known wherever mills are used the world over; they are made of cast steel, hardened, and can be renewed at a very small cost. . With ordinary care one of these mills should last a lifetime; there is no actual wear on the mills proper, except the discs, crusher and ball bearings. By releasing the discs when the mill runs empty they will last a very long time. To avoid all possibility of risk on your part in buying a grinding mill that might not answer your purpose, we will agree to ship you any machine we manufacture on 10 days' trial; and if at the end of that time you decide the mill is not adapted for your use, you can return it, and we will cheerfully refund your money or note. Screw or bolt mill firmly fast; oil all wearing parts before starting machine and oil occasionally thereafter. Ball Box Bearings as well as other wearing parts need lubricating frequently to insure mill to run cool and light. When starting mill always open the plates wide, then close them gradually with hand wheel. No. 16, until the required degree of fineness is obtained, then lock with Jam Nut Lever, No. 15. Also keep dams at least half closed down until mill gets full speed, then gradually raise them until the quantity suitable for your power passes into the plates. When sufficient power is used, the dams No. 21 and No. 21 1/2 can be entirely removed. By following these instructions you will get the best possible results. To renew plates, take off bolt that holds Spring No. 61 to Leg No. 34; remove cover No. 3 1/2, held by 2 bolts; |
