Hopper Mills, and which we can sell at about one-half their cost. To cheapen them so that the price we ask comes within the reach of every one requiring a good feed mill, we have taken off all the parts which can be dispensed with and still make it a first-class feed grinder, viz., Fly Wheel, Grain Hopper, Feed Shoe, Damzel Fulcrum, Eccentric, Shaker Bar, Hopper Stool Ring and Bracket. All of the above parts are used on our custom grinding mills, and are absolutely necessary when the product being ground is to be of an extra fine quality, such as corn meal for table use, graham flour, rye, buckwheat, etc., but for good feed grinding the new style mills, shown on opposite page, cannot be excelled. On the No.7, No.8 and No. 12 Mills the small grain, corn, and cobs are fed past two regulating dams (one on each side) which control the quantity of feed to the grinding discs to suit a smaller or larger power, and the feeding is so arranged that all or any part of the product in the hopper can be stopped from passing into the grinding discs, thus giving the operator an opportunity to control the flow of product into the plates to suit his power.
These mills are sold under our old guarantee of first quality in material and workmanship and we also warrant that they will grind more per hour, with less power, than any other mill on the market (conditions being equal). We make the above statement without fear of successful contradiction and to back up our statement will ship either size on 10 days' trial to responsible parties. With each mill we ship AN EXTRA PAIR OF PLATES and, if cash accompanies order, we will include TWO EXTRA PAIR OF PLATES. If you prefer, we will accept a six months' bankable note WITHOUT INTEREST.        Forty-six years of mill building has made us specialists in this particular line, and has also convinced us that simplicity of construction, using the very best material and employing the best workmanship, are the three principal points to be considered when building a machine that is to be used by parties who do not claim to be machinists and who require a mill of simple construction and easily operated. Therefore, we have taken considerable pains to construct the Quaker City Mills so that any one can operate same. All that is necessary is to set the mill in line with your pulley (from which you expect to belt on to the mill), fasten mill to the floor, using the four lag screws which we furnish, put your belt on mill, and you are ready to grind; open the plates each time before starting the mill, also when there is no grain passing through the mill, and this will keep your plates in good condition a long time. The plates are opened by turning the hand wheel a few times to the left. After the plates have been opened wide, fill your hopper and leave a small. portion of the product pass through the plates; then turn the hand wheel gradually to the right until the feed coming from the mill is as fine as you wish it; then lock with jam nut lever to keep the plates in position and the grist uniform. These are all the instructions necessary to successfully operate the Quaker City Mills, and you will no doubt agree with us that they are not at all complicated.
