We make two styles of plates for this mill, lettered "B" for
fine and "G" for coarse grinding.

The mill shown above is practically the same as Style "E" shown on page 13; that is, it will do the same class of work, with the only difference of being rigged up for hand power. As the operation of a hand power mill is necessarily slower than where stronger power is used, it becomes necessary, when grinding certain kinds of products, to attach the extra hopper (A) and shaker device (D). Style "B," shown on page 8, is the same as this without these attachments and will do the same Class of work, but the product to be ground has to be fed into the main hopper by hand more slowly and irregularly. Therefore, this device was added in order to distribute the product being ground, equally and regularly into the main hopper, and especially for the purpose of controlling the amount passing into the plates. Also to save the operator from the necessity of feeding the mill by hand, thus saving that amount of time and labor by feeding automatically according to the speed and power furnished. This is accomplished by raising the valve in the upper hopper sufficiently to get a steady flow of product into the main hopper, but not allow it to be filled. If this hopper should become filled, it would require a greater power than that developed by hand to force the product into the plates, and the operator be unable to run the mill.
We have also taken into consideration the fact that parties purchasing this style of hand power mill, may, at some future time, wish to change it to a power mll; therefore, we rig this mill with an extra long shaft, to enable the purchaser to put on tight and loose pulleys, should he so desire.
