The stationary grinding disc is fastened to this plate by three bolts and the revolving grinding disc is clutched into the end of the feed screw and held in place by a collar secured by a cotter pin, thus preventing any slipping out of the clutch and insuring the revolving of the disc. The grinding discs are covered by a casting fitted for the purpose which is bolted to the plate attached to the case. This mill is arranged for grinding dry substances, such as coffee, wheat, etc., and also wet or oily substances such as peanut butter and the like. For this purpose there are two feeds, a toothed feed for use in dry grinding and a worm feed for wet or oily grinding, and cast upon separate shafts, as both cannot be used in the mill at the same time. There is also a secondary worm, used in connection with the regular worm feed, if it should be desired to grind ointments or other articles of same consistency. The grinding discs are made in two styles, one for pulverizing and the other for granulating, and are interchangeable so that one can be substituted for the other with little trouble. The shaft is flattened at each end, and the hole in the head of the crank also, so that it. cannot slip around upon the shaft. The end of the shaft coming through the case is threaded to fit a hand wheel, which wheel when screwed up, draws the shaft toward itself and sets the grinding discs closer together so that they will grind finer. When the discs are adjusted they are held firmly in place by a star shaped jam nut placed on the shaft between the crank head and hand wheel, and there is a ball bearing placed between the hand wheel and the case to reduce friction of the mill when the discs are pulled close together for fine grinding. The mill can be adjusted for either coarse, medium or fine grinding by simply opening or closing the plates which is done by turning the hand wheel to the right when wishing to grind fine and to the left when coarse grinding is desired. We especially recommend this mill to poultry raisers for cracking corn for chickens. If it is desired to use the mill for both wet and dry grinding, also the pulverizing and granulating plates, we will furnish the extra feed for $1.00 net, and the extra plates for 75c. per pair net. Unless otherwise specified in order, we ship mill rigged up with tooth feed for dry grinding and put in B plates for pulverizing. We protest against unfair competition by copying the name and design of this two hand column mill.
